About Bad Ass Grandmas
What's a Bad Ass Grandma? Probably not what you think.
These are older women—whether or not they have children or grandchildren—who are doing something noteworthy.
They’re not necessarily loud or reckless. They’re not trying to prove anything. And they’re not seeking attention.
Instead, they’re facing things they once avoided. Following their intuition. Pursuing a long-held dream. Living more fully in the present. Softening where they were once rigid.
In short, they are the women who inspire us and lift our hearts. And their stories deserve to be told.
Too often, these women go unnoticed. Here, we celebrate them—and learn from the ways they continue to grow, change, and expand.
Each story offers a new way of understanding what it means to live large—and to find moments of awe in everyday life.
This project is curated by Alesa Lightbourne, author of Bad Ass Grandma: Living Large, Finding Awe. It grew as readers began sharing stories that felt too meaningful to keep to themselves.
Now there’s a place for them.
If you’d like to receive new stories as they’re published, you’re welcome to join us. It’s free. We’ll send them along—usually a few each month.
